hard stages

when we brought cole home from the hospital it was easy. he's been easy from day 1. he never woke every 2-3 hours to eat....until now.

last week he started waking more frequently through the night. prior to this he was sleeping 12-13 hours solid every night.

I think this stage is so difficult because he is more active than a newborn. he often rolls over in his crib & gets stuck in that position.

we traveled to ohio for thanksgiving & he slept 1 of the 3 nights. we are both still paying for it. since we've been home he's been getting up more often & last night he was up every hour to two hours after eleven pm.

mama is tired. aren't most though? my friend & I were talking today about how people do it with more than one?

I don't cook, I don't clean, I don't walk my dogs & lately sleep has been scarce and I only have one baby! maybe I should rename my business

Has he started solids? I've heard that when a baby begins waking more frequently in the night it can be a sign that he is ready to start solids. Just a thought...

Hi there...
This happens and it is so hard. Any time they are going through a new milestone, be it rolling over, solid foods, crawling, etc, their sleep gets interrupted. There is a really good book that I find helpful called Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby...and it talks about these stages too. He could also just be realizing that mommy and daddy are fun to play with and he misses you at night. There aren't really any solid answers as each child is so different...but when it comes to sleep anything is worth a shot. Goodluck!

they like to keep us on our feet. as they see it, settling in to a comfortable routine is for pansies. they're trying to toughen us up. (these are all things i recite to myself on the daily). good luck. i say, be grateful for the incredible rest you've been able to receive thus far because that alone makes me jealous! :)

It's a growth spurt, and things do get better with time. Hang in there...these are still precious moments. :)
