happy thanksgiving!

happy thanksgiving everyone!

I hope your day is filled with family and friends and lots of yummy food!

this year I am extremely thankful for all that the year has brought. we are closer to our family (thank you, landlords!), I have a baby in my tummy, we are all healthy, I love my family & friends and I am very thankful for tiny sprouts. I never imagined I would do this job full time and have grown to where it is today.

thank you all for your love & support.

have a great thanksgiving!

bye bye hand-dyed

it has finally come. I can no longer handle all that tiny sprouts brings. earlier this year I finally ended the kraft paper gift wrap and outer packaging. the time it saves me is well worth it because my replacement is far better. instead of a wrapped outer package, it comes in a weather-proof tyvek kraft envelope. and instead of gift wrap in kraft paper, you now receive a kraft box. more of a keepsake, I think

now finally, I am ending almost all hand-dyed products. I had come to a point where I just wasn't as proud of my products. maybe because I look at them all day but I really want the *wow* factor when someone receives a tiny sprouts package. so new pictures will be coming in earlier january but for now, here are some new colors:

apple

powder (same name but a bit deeper blue)

cotton candy (same name but a richer pink, not as babyish)

squash (looks just like my old hand-dyed)

chocolate

milk

olive

possibly slate (I need to see it in person first)

I am keeping rose because I love it and it is easier to dye and my favorite, cream

I feel really great about this decision. I am so excited to receive all the new colors. no more worrying about dye spots! now I can focus on delivering a very unique and quality product

thank you mr turkey

this is a little post to thank all the 72 million turkeys that will be served this thanksgiving. this is the one thing that makes me very sad on thanksgiving, knowing all the turkeys have been abused, injected with hormones (so you can have a really plump turkey) so people can have them on the center of their dinner tables. it makes my heart ache.

here are a few facts I'd like to leave you with to just make you think...

"While working at a series of Aviagen factory farms in West Virginia, PETA's investigator documented that workers tortured, mutilated, and maliciously killed turkeys. The following are just a few of the documented offenses:

* Employees stomped on turkeys' heads, punched turkeys, hit them on the head with a can of spray paint and pliers, and struck turkeys' heads against metal scaffolding.
* Men shoved feces and feed into turkeys' mouths and held turkeys' heads under water. Another bragged about jamming a broom stick 2 feet down a turkey's throat.
* A supervisor said he saw workers kill 450 turkeys with 2-by-4s.
* One man said he saw a coworker fatally inject turkey semen and sulfuric acid into turkeys' heads."

I can't fathom how/why people can treat animals this way but I feel education is important. it is what changed me.

my new desk!!!!

this weekend my new desk arrived. I have been in awe every since.

I wanted the desk to be similar to this desk

except I wanted it a lot larger and made by my dad. what could be better? here it is:

side one with open bookshelves for gift wrap boxes, shipping envelopes and ribbon. my cute brother made that little ribbon reel for me.

side two with more open bookshelves so I can organize the necessary packaging material but not everyday things I use

and side three with another set of bookshelves (you can never have too many). this area is not yet organized but I wanted to show the detail with the beadboard. I love it!

and side four is open for my computer tower and my printer will soon be stored here

the total dimensions of my desk are 4 feet wide by 6 feet long. I love all the space I have on top. it is just perfect

there are still some finishing touches to be done. I want to have the desk top area nice and neat with candles and a nice little lamp. oh, and my vintage radio!

THANK YOU DAD for the BEST christmas gift EVER!

like I love you love you

this is a real beaut. 4 bedrooms, 3 bath that sits on 1.06 acres. WOW

it just needs the great room, one bedroom, one bath and the kitchen finished.

thank you sweet emma

my sweet niece, emma claire, passed away far too soon. we all wish she were here with us. on monday I found out I have the same clotting disorder as my sister that resulted in emma's death. all I could think about was emma as I sat in the doctor's office. without emma, we would have never known my sister or I had this disorder and wouldn't have been able to be on medicine to help have a successful pregnancy.

thank you, emma, for saving our baby's life and other babies. I can't wait to see you in heaven, to hug you tight and to let you know how much I love you.
