is it almost over?

I really can't believe it is december 23rd. while eating a midnight dinner at perkins tonight, my husband asked if I was excited about christmas. honestly it doesn't really feel like it. it will on christmas day, but this year it all came in a whirlwind and I am glad the holiday rush is over. I was stressed for about 3 weeks. the orders, orders, orders, orders that I had to complete and stressed I would upset someone that I (again) didn't really take time to enjoy this time of year. next year will be different. it will be COLD, snowing (hopefully) and I will remember that I want at least a solid week to do absolutely nothing. well, by nothing I mean watch christmas movies, eat cookies and drink cider.

melt my heart
it is a small world. today I received this picture from amanda from mimi green. I know her from etsy because I purchased some of her adorable dog collars for our dogs. she wrote to tell me she had been editing pictures for a local photographer (in her area) and came across this photo from kim donald photography.
that picture melts my heart!

cookie party 2008
tonight we had a cookie party at our house.jpg)
even a little area where you could decorate your own cookie.jpg)
it was great seeing my friend jen and heather.
I could talk to them for hours..jpg)
the party was great! we have LOTS of cookies. stewart had a blast too. this is the list of things he got into and ate in 3 hours:
1. avocado (he ate the skin too) from a bag
2. 1/2 cucumber-I gave him this so he actually ate something healthy
3. m&m cookie-he took this out of someone's cookie bag
4. bag that had 3 cookies in it. we had to pry his mouth open to get it from him-he got this from the cookie table
5. tostada chips-trash can
6. salad that was under the tostada chips
7. the end of a french loaf-he grabbed this as my friend was walking this into the kitchen to slice it from croutons
don't worry dad, he is NOT hungry!

all I want for christmas

except I want my husband to build it.
I love the one from pottery barn but I want:
*the cubbies to fit my printer and computer
*I want the top to have holes in it for cords so everything is very clean
*on one side I want to have a ribbon spool where I can keep my ribbons
*also on the top I want my glue stick cup to fit in a cut out hole
*keyboard tray
*beadboard for the finished wood
hopefully this will be a project my husband will complete when we move.

packaging
I have always loved my packaging. from the very beginning I have wrapped everything in kraft paper. the only reason is because it reminded me of laura ingalls. anyone who knows me knows how much I love little house. while browsing etsy, I ran across these packaging envelopes.

are these not perfect for tiny sprouts? kraft paper and stitching?
i LOVE these

the best ones yet
this morning I made pancakes. they were really, really good. we were out of milk so I substituted pumpkin milk. they were the fluffiest, most delicious pancakes I have ever made. to make it extra special I made pumpkin chai and set the table up for a festive breakfast..jpg)
the recipe:
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup white flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
-sift the above and then add:
1 beaten egg
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 1/4 cup milk

love looking at furniture. especially when it is on sale.
these are my new favorites:

except one day I want our kids to have bunk beds
when purchasing our guest bed 4 years ago, I bought a full size just because I knew I wanted to have bunk beds. my sister and I stopped by a mattress place, picked one up, put it on top of my car and drove home. oh, and she was 5 months pregnant.

pie cabinet
how cute is this? I would probably have to change out the little curtain but I think this would be so fun for my niece to have when she comes over! my great-grandmother had a little kitchen she used to get out when we would visit. it is a great memory.
so if I am going to get the kitchen, I need to have these to go with it, right?

rustic barnwood
"Own a piece of history with one of these rustic barnwood end tables. Michigan has a rich farming heritage and soon these historical treasures will be gone forever. The lumber used in this furniture is reclaimed from old barns that have been marked to be destroyed. Gone, but not forgotten, the Michigan barn lives on in the production of furniture from these icons. This coffee table is built from solid pine that was cut down over 100 years ago."
we are looking for a dining room table like these tables. so cool!
