we are home from our thanksgiving holiday in indianapolis. my computer is fixed thanks to my brother-in-law!
we met our new nephew, brennan kristian. .jpg)
our niece, elsa, is the sweetest. she is what we like to call "a broken record". she repeats things a lot and anything you say she repeats.
we made pancakes together.
and gathered firewood together!
on sunday, my sister, sister-in-law, and I went to downtown broadripple to a super cute place for lunch. it was called 3 sisters.
how fitting, huh? it was in an old house and had GREAT food. after lunch we went to a natural type food store. it was so fun. it reminded me of baby boom and little house. they even put your merchandise in a brown paper sack. after our fun day we drove by the house I have been eyeing for months. there just happened to be an open house that day. we were 2 hours too late but the couple that lives there are super cool and let us come in. to say I was IN LOVE with this house would be an understatement.

this house has everything we have desired our next home to have (except a wood-burning fireplace). of course I did not have my new camera with me. really bummed because the pictures online really don't show the house. my husband was bummed because he had gone home the day before so he missed the fun tour. I had night duty with brennan and even though it was really hard to be sleep deprived, he was worth every second of it. he is growing quickly and I am so thankful he is healthy! I loved feeding him and watching his facial expressions. it was really hard to come back to florida. when my husband picked me up he had these in hand with a super sweet card. .jpg)
he is the sweetest.

it got me
a virus that is. it ruined our computer. some things I have learned from this process.
1. update your virus software often
2. backup all of your data biweekly
3. never let anyone other than your husband use your computer
4. patience
I am very impatient when it comes to my computer. I do everything on it. I think this began in 1988 when my dad bought my sister her first IBM for christmas. I remember very clearly us going on landsend.com and looking at stuff. it was in all black and white and it was VERY slow. I have had to visit the local library to retrieve my orders, print shipping labels and reply to emails. if I am not as quick as normal in responding you now know why. we won't have a new computer until 11.27. so long away!
I couldn't wait to get to the library this morning because I knew these were awaiting me:

so excited for our new site and photos!

a new blue
so yesterday I was in a mad rush to get the package out in the mail to the photographer who lives in california. I had to dye celery so it could be used with a few outfits for the photos. celery and rose give me the most problems and headaches. even if I use the same measurements each time it is always different than the prior batch. I have been wanting to add a new blue to the line for a while. I couldn't get the shade I wanted. until yesterday. the celery I dyed came out very bright so I was trying to fix it with more blue dye. instead it turned out as a vintagy blue. it looks beautiful with any of our other hand-dyed colors. so today I am going to try the formula again to see if I get that color. I would be really excited to add a new blue even though my husband tells me I am crazy and will regret it later!
traditions

growing up the day after thanksgiving was the day we decorated for christmas. one of my favorite memories and traditions was our dishes. my mom had the idea of putting away the dishes we used all year round and got out the christmas dishes. our christmas dishes had a big christmas tree on them. I love this tradition. I was always sad when we put them away because it meant the holiday was over and back to school. I have been thinking about starting this tradition in our house. these are the dishes I am thinking of using each christmas. I think they are so festive. or these with these to get the kids excited every year. they might not if we just had plain red!

I might get sick
I was on baby bear shop this morning looking for some products for my nephew. I really don't even know what but I love their line. I was reading in their news category and came across an article about CANCER-CAUSING CHEMICAL FOUND IN CHILDREN'S BATH PRODUCTS. you can read it here. isn't it disheartening to know that these big companies sell stuff like this but make it appear it is great for your child? being a vegetarian I've read a lot of articles on how meat is truly bad for you. I know, I know, you won't believe me until you actually quit eating meat. I had to stop reading articles at one point because it consumed me. now this article will probably consume me too. why can't everything just be organic and safe?

nursery

one day (and hopefully soon) I will be decorating a nursery. I have major baby itch and I have a container full of baby clothing, not tiny sprouts, that I have been collecting over the years. so anyway, when I do decorate my nursery you will be sure to find plenty of these guys in it. aren't they so cute? anyone who knows me knows my love for BIG dogs so my nursery will be full of vintagy stuff like this. I love etsy.
new photos coming soon!
bad candy
so I placed these ads on this high profile site believing it would drive a lot of business. the ads were a bit out of my range but being who they are I thought for sure I would recoop the money. I didn't to say the least. traffic was just like any other day for me so it was really disappointing. then this morning I get the invoice and asked how I pay by credit card. I prefer this method because that is how we buy all of our supplies and pay it monthly. they had the nerve to write me and say, I am sorry, we prefer check because we don't want to pay the 3% processing fee! that is BAD business in my book!

the heat is on
it is chilly in florida. these past few days I have been gitty because I have felt like I lived up north. I turned the heat on this morning when I woke because it was 67 in our house! so many exciting things going on lately.
1. my nephew was born on monday. he is healthy and so precious. we thank God for that. I am so excited to meet him soon.
2. I just bought the zebra printer to speed up shipping packages. it doesn't use ink and the labels are far less expensive than the full size sheets.
3. I am having my website redesigned and I received the first mock-up yesterday. I felt like she lived in my head because it was exactly as I had pictured.
4. yesterday I received the sweetest email from michelle from untilkara.com. she asked if she could send my sister a blanket for her new son. I don't even know her and I thought this was so kind! thanks, michelle!
5. I am having new photos done for my site and I finished up the outfits last night. very excited to see them on babies! how amazing is her work? SO excited!
6. I sent off the material for the new pillows that will be added in 2008. here is a sneak peak!.jpg)
that is my excitement for now!

market blues
.jpg)
the market is awful in florida. and not only is it awful but a house that sold 6 months ago 3 doors down is back on the market. it is 500 sq ft larger than ours and guess what? they listed it for the same price as ours. this house also has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. ours has 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. the only good thing is that ours has a nice backyard and theirs does not and their kitchen is not updated like ours. sooooo we decided to lower the price of ours so it would be under the $250 price range. that way if someone is looking in that range they might want to take a look. at this point I will take a loss because we can always recoop some of the money on our taxes AND the cost of living in indianapolis is far less than it is here so it would balance out. cross your fingers our new price will help things. with our nephew being born this morning it has REALLY got me itching!
he's here!

operation christmas child
we have several stockings to choose from this season! we hope you love them as much as we do. this year we are participating in Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. for each stocking sold a shoebox will be packed with items for a child in need. so each year you hang your stocking you will know it helped a child have a brighter christmas.
